The Secret to Happiness ~ Rules I Live By

My Epiphany

  1. Don't get into a pissing contest with a skunk.
  2. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
  3. Money can't bring you happiness, but without it, you'll be darned miserable.
  4. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
  5. This is a Bullshit free zone.
  6. Always remember ~ there, but for the grace of God, goes I.
  7. Forgive. Especially if the prospect seems excruciating as waxing the hair from your scalp. To receive forgiveness, one must forgive.
  8. Stop hiding. Show your face, your Self. Be who you are.
  9. Stand up against something that seems wrong, even and especially if, no one else around you is ~ don't let a bus load of pussies prevent you from confronting a bully.
  10. Take fotografs ... every single effing day.
  11. The secret to marriage ~ the ugly truth IS ALWAYS BETTER than a stinking lie. This means not only admitting to reveal the ugly truth, but also committing yourself to STAYING and LISTENING to the ugly truth, as well. Some things are worth mending. You can't always go out and buy a new one.
  12. Share, even and especially when it feels uncomfortable.
  13. Everyone's shit stinks. Even the richest, most refined, and asthetic people wipe their own asses. We are all the same, in the end ... which is also the beginning.

I have a sign hanging right next to the door that exits our house- so I see it every time I leave and it says,

faithfulness &
How much fruit have you had today?"

I suppose those things are the rules I live by, or try to. Seems more difficult as I get older.

Excellent list. You would be interesting to talk with. I almost wrote "talk to", but better grammar, manners, and some understanding warned me otherwise. :)
