Faith, Holding Out its Hand in the Dark

2010 Olympic Torch, at the Waterfront

Hope is faith, holding its hand out in the dark.
Hope burns as brightly as this flame.
Explosive, sacred, enormous,
Convergent at a single moment in time.
Echoing, echoing, echoing.

This week Jamie asks wishcasters, where do you wish to make a difference. The flame in this photograph embodies my wish this week. I wish to make a difference here and now, with the world at my doorstep. I wish to make a difference with very smile, every hello, every time I point a visitor, a stranger in the right direction. I wish to make a difference to those who surround me by embracing the hope and unity which the olympic spirit has brought to Vancouver. I wish to make a difference by embracing the flame of hope close to my heart, and savouring what these games have brought, rather than what they cost.

As you wish for yourself, so I wish for you also. I love that you are talking about looking at the gifts rather that simply focusing on the cost... a wonderful attitude!

And I wish for you also. Lovely analogy with embracing the flame of hope in your heart.

May you be able to shine your light on those all around you. As you wish for yourself, so I wish for you also.

I love this picture, and your words following it...right now my life is in a very dark spot, "hope burns as brightly as this flame" really spoke to me... you've made a difference in one life already.
