Today, I am feeling sorry for myself. Fibromyalgia is giving me pain throughout my entire body. Then, I read your top story on your blog. The shattered glass reminded me of how I feel today. Loneliness from this illness is often more than I can bear. Not many understand it.
But.......your story woke me up and pumped my adrenaline. I was once in a relationship that was verbally and physically abusive. While reading your story (after seeing the shattered glass), I felt SO lucky I left that relationship 17 years ago. I am extremely grateful for my phenomenal Husband. Suddenly, I don't feel abandoned by my body or by myself in the form of loneliness. Your story gifted me gratitude. As you wish for yourself, I wish for you also.

As you wish for yourself, so I wish for you also. Others' stories can teach us a lot about ourselves.

Roxanne,

Thank you for sharing your story! It is a very important one! I've lived through abuse while being several provinces away from my family and my familiar--that fear is something that is so hard to forget, which may be why I now don't go beyond my comfort zone (did you just see the epiphany???)

As Roxanne wishes for herself, I truly, truly wish for her!!

I remember this time, the letters from England, the feeling of angst, the roller coaster ride. I'm glad to see your perspective on this several years later. An ugly time, so beautifully recounted in second person.

I didn't know about the "attempted to kill his wife" part at that time. As I'm sure you know, the most treacherous among us are often charming--and physically beautiful. It doesn't sound as though you're beating yourself up over this, nor should you. You live, you learn. And then you live and learn some more.

I can only wish for you what you wish for yourself, my friend. I'm not as often in cyberspace as I used to be, but you're still in my thoughts. You never left.
